The original teaser trailer said the only difference between our world and theirs was that 'humans didn't happen', so there should be birds, reptiles, bugs, etc. I don't recall seeing a single bird (nonanthro, since they were really clear about it being only mammals that went civilized) flying around in the film, despite them being mentioned in the song, 'Try Everything'. That said, I am wondering about what natural fauna exists in Zootopia. Carnivores aren't dependent on there being a x10 or x100 their population of prey to eat (assuming what they do eat is grown or manufactured ), and non-carnivores aren't dependent on high birthrates to replenish their numbers lost to carnivores (though we've seen that's NOT the case in bunny borough, *cough*)īasically, there isn't a reason for the ratio to persist, since natural population pressures no longer exist. Since Zootopia isn't a 'Kevin and Kell''ish world, and carnivorous species still have to eat, there must be some sort of protein substitute that they glossed over on.
Thinking a bit more on it, I wonder how long that 10% would actually last.
